Invest in Education

DonorsChoose.org has partnered with my fellow contributors to the Silicon Valley Moms Blogs this month to run the DonorsChoose.org Blogger Challenge. Last year they helped 75,000 kids get needed supplies. Now that all of us bloggers are on the case, I know we can help even more kids.

The premise behind DonorsChoose.org is simple and effective. Teachers request what they need and write a description of how the item will benefit the children. Some of the requests are basic, others to enhance the education environment in a creative way. Trust me, you’ll be bowled over as you read though the many requests.

You choose how much you want to contribute. Your money goes directly to the classroom/project of your choice.

So please, if you have a moment click though this link and contribute during the month of October. And know you made a child smile and a teacher very, very happy.

Take a look at the widget in my sidebar. This widget keeps track of every donation that goes though our link. Use the link directly above, or click through via the link in the sidebar. Watch it grow!

Coast to Coast: BlogHer or Bust

Oh, how I wish I was going to BlogHer. Alas, it was not in the cards for me this year (money-wise, or schedule-wise). So I will need to live vicariously through my blogging buds as they jet-off to San Francisco and blog about all the things I am missing!

I am however, very excited to be following my Silicon Valley Moms/friends as they embark on a road trip only Thelma and Louise would rival:

Take five moms, give them a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV, add wireless internet access in the vehicle, a GPS system, cutting-edge cameras and video recording technology, video games, music, gasoline, hotel stays, food, mainstream media covering the road trip on the internet & television – and see what happens as these hilarious and irreverent women drive coast to cost, picking up their fellow SV Moms Group Contributors and blogging it all on the road….. Seriously, you will NOT want to miss following these bloggers as they make their way across the country, from Northern Virginia to San Francisco.

Go visit Silicon Valley Moms Group Summer Road Trip ’08 and follow along with me as my friends traverse the country on their way to BlogHer.

I’m officially jealous! Good luck ladies!!

Pollen attacks, and Moms who rock!

Allergies are the worst.

The trees sprouted pollen a few weeks ago, and hubby already has his first sinus infection of the season. And it’s a dooooozy….

I know it’s bad when my allergies intensify (usually mine are mild). I’ve been fighting off a killer headache all weekend. And today my eyes are red and I’ve sneezed only about 50 times.

Fun times.

I wanted to also mention I have a new blogging gig over at the (about to be launched) New Jersey Moms Blog… a sister site to the growing conglomerate of Silicon Valley Moms Blogs. I am excited to be a writer with a fabulous bunch of ladies, so do drop by, won’t you??

Check out my recent post today, on this Earth Day. It’s just me ranting about gas prices and pontificating about Fred Flintstone. Riveting material, I know….

While you’re there, check out my fellow contributors as well, and even click out to the other regional sites. We are all Moms, and we have a lot to say….!
